Urban League of Broward County Issues Statement about Charlottesville, Virginia Hate Rally
Fort Lauderdale, FL – August 14, 2017 – The Urban League of Broward County released this statement today following the hate rally of white nationalists in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday:
This weekend’s terrible expressions of white supremacy and neo-Nazi beliefs and resulting violence are a painful reminder of how much more, we as a nation, must do to reverse the blatant racism that has long permeated our history.
We, as the Urban League of Broward County, call upon everyone in our community and far beyond to condemn these horrible demonstrations and reject hateful ideology and violence in the strongest possible terms.
We should all be disgusted by these acts of terrorism that violate the most basic principles of decency and our shared humanity. This is not the America we know.
Let’s take this moment of tragedy and intolerance to tone down the political rhetoric and the negativity we often see across the political spectrum; let’s stand together and united against those who want to divide us.
