Urban League of Broward County Appoints New Board Chair and Acknowledges Departure of Three Outgoing Members
Fort Lauderdale, FL. July 7, 2023 - Urban League of Broward County is pleased to announce the appointment of a new board chair and expresses gratitude to three of its outgoing board members who have made significant contributions during their tenure.
Tim Hogans has been appointed as Chair of the Urban League of Broward County’s Board of Directors, effective July 1. As project director of development for GridLiance, a NextEra Transmission Company, Tim brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role. Having served on the board for eight years, Tim has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a deep understanding of the organization’s mission and values. As the new board chair, Tim will play a vital role in guiding the Urban League towards sustained impact and expansion.
“We are excited to welcome Tim Hogans as our new Chair,” said Germaine Smith-Baugh, Ed.D., president and CEO for the Urban League. “With his extensive industry knowledge and strategic insights, we are confident that Tim will lead the board with excellence and contribute to the success of our organization.”
Alongside this appointment, the Urban League acknowledges the invaluable contributions of three outgoing board members, Sidney Calloway, Esq., shareholder, Shutts; Leslie Lunak, chief financial officer, BankUnited; and Andy Hill, chief revenue officer, City Furniture. The board members individually contributed 10, 9, and 3 years of service, respectively. “We extend our deepest appreciation to Sidney, Leslie and Andy for their exceptional leadership during their tenure,” said Hogans. “Their contributions have been instrumental in shaping the direction of the Urban League.” Dr. Baugh added, “Urban League remains committed to its mission of advancing social and economic equality. With utmost assurance, we believe that our newly appointed board chair, Tim Hogans, will amplify the groundwork established by his esteemed colleagues on the board.”
